This
site is a tribute to our little dog with the blue eye.
Boston Terrier's are original all-American breed dog.
Tracing back to the late 1700's. Part English Bulldog part White English Terrier.
Born near Chicago in '99. We had first
pick from the litter of four. We could not decide on which one till the pup with the blue eye gave Lori a kiss. Her blood line
traces back over 150 years.
She cost $600. A Bostons avg life span is 13 years. 13/600=less than $50 per year so not a bad investment
for an animal that is such a great companian. The way we take care of her she should live much longer. Boston's are great family dog,
very smart, clean, dont shed hair, playfull.
The only drawback is if you feed them a poor diet they can get gassy. SBD gassy
Great
for those of you that are used to blaming the dog anyway.
Boston Terriers love to hang out with humans, they must be included.
If your going to get one plan on including them in your everyday activities. They give you that look that totally changes your plans
and makes you bring them with anyway.
Jazzy is a totally deaf.
According to Vets at the U of M the blue eye can be an indication
of deafness. This proved to be true with Jazzy.
A genetic defect most deaf dogs with a blue eye or eyes were able to hear their first
few weeks. Then the nerves die off in the ear causing total or partial deafness. The test to determine this is called the Behrs
Test. About $100
Some people have poor neuron connections and would kill a dog simply because of deafness or some other poor
trait. The AKC says a blue eye is a disqualifing trait. What do they know? Most people think her blue eye is so unique.
If you have
the extra time to raise an animal like ours just do it.
Caring for an animal or a human with special needs will change your
life for the better.
If you know of an animal that is being destroyed for reasons like a "defect" contact someone other than the Humane
Society. This is a good org but use them as a last chance. You may feel good about bringing a "special needs" animal there but
you are most likely commiting that animal to death row.
Contact a Boston Terrier Club in your area or any breed specific organization.
